Remembering Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar

Born on April 14, 1891, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was a distinguished Indian jurist, economist, politician, and social reformer. He is celebrated for his relentless efforts against social discrimination towards Dalits and for championing the rights of women and workers.

A brilliant scholar, Dr. Ambedkar earned doctorates in economics from Columbia University and the University of London. He also led significant social reform movements, including the satyagraha at Mahad in 1956, advocating for the right of Dalits to access public water sources.

Notably, he played a key role in drafting the Indian Constitution as one of the seven members of the Drafting Committee post-independence. On September 25, 1932, he signed the historic Poona Pact with Madan Mohan Malaviya, ensuring increased representation for the depressed classes in legislative assemblies.

Dr. Ambedkar passed away on December 6, 1956. In recognition of his monumental contributions to the nation, he was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, in 1990.

This special train initiative is a tribute to his enduring legacy, ensuring that devotees and followers can pay homage without hindrance on this solemn occasion.
