Anoushka Shankar, the renowned British-American sitar virtuoso and daughter of legendary composer Ravi Shankar, is set to make a significant impact at the 67th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 2. The celebrated artist, who has already earned global recognition for her musical talents, will serve as a presenter at the prestigious event. This marks her return to the Grammy stage after nearly a decade, having previously presented at the ceremony in 2016.

In an Instagram post, Shankar expressed her excitement about representing India on the global stage once again. “What a thrill to be asked to serve as a presenter at the 67th #GRAMMYPremiere Ceremony this Sunday! The last time I presented was in 2016 – an extraordinary day,” she wrote, reflecting on her journey. Shankar went on to share her pride at being nominated for two Grammy awards this year, bringing her total nominations to an impressive 11.

Her latest album, Ch II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn, and her featured role on Jacob Collier’s A Rock Somewhere have earned Shankar Grammy nominations in the categories of Best Global Music Album and Best Contemporary Instrumental Album, respectively. This marks a major milestone in her illustrious career, with Shankar expressing her gratitude for the recognition. “I’m also proud to be nominated this year for my latest album and my featuring role on Jacob Collier’s album—my 10th and 11th Grammy nominations respectively!”

Anoushka Shankar’s presence at the Grammy Awards follows the success of Indian artist Vir Das, who made history as the host of the 2024 Emmy Awards, further showcasing the growing global influence of Indian talent.

The 2025 Grammy Awards will be broadcast live from Los Angeles, with a special focus on raising funds for wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery of the first responders who risked their lives in battling the devastating fires.

As the music world eagerly awaits the ceremony, Shankar’s continued success and recognition stand as a testament to her exceptional musical contributions and her role in elevating Indian music on the global stage.
