The India-Australia men’s doubles duo of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden, who won the Australian Open title earlier this year, have announced that they will part ways after two successful years as a team.

The pair first joined forces in January 2023 and ended their partnership with a victory over Germany’s Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz in their final group match at the ATP Finals 2024 on Friday. However, the win wasn’t enough to propel them into the semifinals.

Ebden reflected on their partnership, saying, “We were already out, but to get one final win together was a great way to finish. It’s been an amazing two years,” according to Olympics.com.

Over the course of their collaboration, Bopanna and Ebden captured three major titles: the Australian Open Grand Slam title, the ATP Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells in 2023, and the Miami Open in 2024. They also triumphed at the Qatar Open in 2023 and reached the final of the US Open in 2023. This remarkable run also saw them rise to the top of the doubles rankings in 2024 following their Australian Open win.

Ebden added, “Finishing on a win and getting one last big moment here at the ATP Finals felt fitting. It was really nice to share that together.” Ebden, who secured a gold medal in doubles with John Peers at the Paris Olympics, also expressed his gratitude toward Bopanna. “I have to thank him for his incredible effort and dedication, especially at 44 years old. It’s been an amazing journey, and I wish him all the best for the future,” Ebden said.

Looking ahead, Bopanna will reunite with his former Croatian partner Ivan Dodig, 39, for the 2025 tennis season.
