China Condemns Trump’s Tariff Move, Warns of Impact on US-China Cooperation
China has strongly condemned US President Donald Trump’s imposition of a 10% tariff on Chinese goods, labeling the move a violation of World Trade Organization (WTO) rules and warning of serious consequences for US-China relations. Beijing vowed to take countermeasures to protect its interests, emphasizing that tariff wars have no winners and could undermine global cooperation.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry also addressed US concerns over fentanyl, stating that China has taken significant steps to control the opioid crisis, including classifying all fentanyl-related substances as controlled in 2019 at the request of the US. China warned that additional tariffs could damage ongoing counternarcotics efforts between the two countries, calling for a rational and cooperative approach to resolve the issue.
