CII Partnership Summit 2024: Strengthening Regional Alliances and Collaborative Growth
New Delhi, December 2 – Bhutan’s Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Employment, Lyonpo Namgyal Dorji, praised India as Bhutan’s “closest partner” and a cornerstone of its aspirations during the 29th Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Partnership Summit 2024. Speaking at the inaugural session in New Delhi on Monday, Dorji emphasized the trust, collaboration, and shared values binding the two nations.
“India’s role as Bhutan’s closest partner is not only a pillar of support but also an inspiration. The trust, collaboration, and shared values between our two countries make India an enabler of Bhutan’s aspirations,” he said.
Dorji highlighted India’s contributions beyond its borders, stating, “India enables opportunities, facilitates connections, and engagements for us. It is this spirit of collaboration and mutual growth that excites the two countries.”
The minister described the summit as an example of India’s leadership and commitment to fostering innovation and inclusivity. He commended India’s emergence as a global leader under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting India’s role in Bhutan’s journey of growth and transformation.
“India stands not only as a trusted neighbour but also as a partner in our journey of growth and transformation, offering both inspiration and support as we pursue our aspirations,” Dorji added.
He invited investors to explore Bhutan’s opportunities, particularly its futuristic city project, aligning profitability with purpose. “The futuristic city project at Bhutan offers unparalleled potential. We invite you to visit Bhutan and explore the opportunity to partner in an initiative that seamlessly aligns profitability with purpose,” he said.
The summit, attended by 61 participating countries, 30 global speakers, and 11 international ministers, focused on fostering global partnerships for a sustainable and prosperous future.
Qatar and India Strengthen Ties
Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Ahmed Mohammed Al Sayed, highlighted Qatar’s economic diversification strategy, emphasizing sectors such as logistics, IT, and digital transformation. He noted India’s significance as Qatar’s second-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade exceeding USD 14 billion in 2023.
“The partnership between Qatar and India represents long-term strategic allies committed to advancing and strengthening together,” Al Sayed stated, referencing Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Qatar earlier this year as a pivotal moment in deepening ties.
Myanmar Eyes Stronger Collaboration with India
Myanmar’s Deputy Minister of Commerce, Minn Minn, underlined the complementary strengths of India and Myanmar, citing Myanmar’s agricultural assets and India’s technological expertise.
“As neighbouring countries and key trading partners, we stand as a testament to the power of strategic partnerships in advancing regional stability and mutual growth,” he said.
Minn Minn also acknowledged India’s technical assistance and capacity-building initiatives, which have significantly boosted Myanmar’s trade development.
The summit’s discussions reinforced the importance of regional cooperation, trade, and investment, setting a vision for mutual growth and shared prosperity across Asia and beyond.
