IndiaAI and Microsoft Collaborate to Revolutionize AI Ecosystem in India
New Delhi [India], January 8: IndiaAI, an independent business division under the Digital India Corporation, has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with tech giant Microsoft to propel the adoption and development of artificial intelligence (AI) in India. This collaboration is a significant step toward realizing the goals of the India AI Mission.
The announcement follows Microsoft’s recent commitment to invest USD 3 billion in cloud and AI infrastructure in India over the next two years. This includes the establishment of new data centers aimed at bolstering India’s technological capabilities.
Key Highlights of the Partnership
As part of this strategic alliance, Microsoft and IndiaAI will focus on skilling half a million individuals by 2026. This initiative will include students, educators, developers, government officials, and women entrepreneurs. According to a statement from the Ministry of Electronics and IT, this effort aims to create a skilled workforce capable of driving India’s AI ambitions forward.
Additionally, a Center of Excellence named “AI Catalysts” will be set up to encourage AI-driven innovation in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The center will support 100,000 AI innovators and developers through hackathons, community-building activities, and an AI marketplace.
To further strengthen AI education and training, AI Productivity Labs will be established in 20 National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) and NIELIT centers across 10 states. These labs aim to train 20,000 educators and provide foundational AI courses to 100,000 students in 200 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).
The partnership will also focus on developing foundational AI models with Indic language support to address India’s linguistic diversity. This initiative is expected to ensure cultural and contextual relevance in AI applications.
