Joaquin Niemann Confirms Participation in International Series India
Gurugram (Haryana), India – Joaquin Niemann, the Chilean LIV Golf superstar and 2024 International Series Rankings champion, has confirmed his participation in the highly anticipated International Series India. This USD 2 million tournament will be held at the prestigious DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram from January 30 to February 2, 2024.
Niemann, who leads the Torque GC team in the LIV Golf League, joins an elite field that includes defending US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau of the USA and Indian golf icon Anirban Lahiri. The competition will be the first-ever LIV Golf-backed event to take place on the Indian subcontinent, marking a historic moment for the series.
The 26-year-old Chilean player is fresh off an impressive 2024 season, where he secured two victories in the first three events of the LIV Golf League. His wins in Mayakoba and Jeddah, along with two T2 finishes and two T3s, saw him narrowly miss out on the individual championship to two-time major winner Jon Rahm.
Niemann capped off his stellar season by clinching the USD 5 million PIF Saudi International title in Riyadh, defeating 2022 Open champion Cam Smith and rising star Caleb Surratt in a thrilling play-off. This victory, along with his third-place finish in the season opener at the International Series Oman, earned him the top spot in the International Series Rankings for 2024.
The International Series India, presented by DLF, is the first of 10 global events in the season, which will also feature tournaments in Macau, Morocco, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia. With additional locations set to be announced, the series offers players from around the world a unique opportunity to progress to the LIV Golf League. The rankings champion at the end of the season will secure a spot on the LIV roster for the following year. Players can also earn a second chance through the innovative LIV Golf Promotions event.
As the first event of its kind on the Indian subcontinent, the International Series India is set to bring international golf talent to the forefront and elevate the sport in the region.
