In 2025, dating for Indian Gen Z isn’t just about swiping right—it’s about vibing to live music, creating shared memories, and making real-world connections. According to a survey by happn, 74% of Indian singles consider concerts their dream first date, and 67% believe live music events make dating easier.

Concerts are no longer just about the music; they’re transforming into vibrant matchmaking hubs. Whether it’s enjoying Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars” or discovering indie talent at Lollapalooza, live music events are providing the ideal environment for romantic sparks to fly.

Karima Ben Abdelmalek, CEO of happn, notes that activity-based dates, like attending concerts, are now a popular way for singles to break the ice and connect. Dr. Chandni Tugnait, a psychotherapist, emphasizes that shared live music experiences offer natural emotional connections, often bypassing the usual pressure of constant conversation.

Music, as a love language, plays a huge role in modern romance. According to the survey, 48% of singles are instantly attracted to someone with similar music tastes, and 74% use music as an icebreaker. Music is more than just entertainment—it’s a personality trait and a significant emotional trigger.

Psychologist Absy Sam explains that live concerts foster collective emotions, creating an unspoken bond. This synchronization in music builds deeper connections, making concerts the perfect setting for finding someone who feels like home.

Research shows that live music triggers the release of oxytocin and dopamine, hormones responsible for feelings of connection and affection. This biological response, combined with shared musical experiences, creates a powerful romantic atmosphere that’s hard to replicate in other dating settings.

With concerts rapidly becoming the new dating ground in India, it’s clear that music is now an essential part of modern romance.

Pet owners in India are facing increasing challenges when it comes to travelling with their furry companions. A recent incident has brought attention to Uber’s ‘Uber Pet’ feature, which allows pets to travel with their owners but at a significantly higher cost and with poor service.

On Thursday, actress Swastika Mukherjee highlighted the issue after Chitrangada Singh, who runs an NGO in Delhi, faced difficulties while trying to transport six rescued puppies to a clinic. When Chitrangada booked an Uber Go ride for a five-kilometre trip, the fare was Rs 150. However, opting for the ‘Uber Pet’ feature saw the price skyrocket to Rs 487, almost three times the original fare.

Upon arriving at the pickup point, the driver refused to accept the pups, insisting that she book a ‘pet taxi’. Chitrangada had no idea about this option and, in a medical emergency, had to resort to the ‘Uber Pet’ service at a much higher price.

When India Today contacted Uber for clarification, a spokesperson explained that the higher price was meant to cover the cost of vehicle cleaning and maintenance after the ride, ensuring comfort for future passengers. However, this didn’t address the concerns of pet owners who believe the service isn’t meeting their expectations.

Uber’s official policy allows service animals at all times, but non-service animals like pets are only allowed at the driver’s discretion. In some cities, the ‘Uber Pet’ feature is available, but it only permits one pet per ride.

The incident isn’t unique, as pet owners across India frequently face struggles when trying to find pet-friendly travel options. Ayush Das, an engineering student with five dogs, shares how difficult it is to travel with pets. “Cabs, hotels, and even cafes often don’t allow them,” he says.

Affordability is also a significant concern. Raising a pet has become an expensive affair with high costs for quality food, grooming, and vet visits. For many, having a pet is a labor of love, not luxury, but the financial burden is undeniable.

Despite the challenges, experts like Rashi Narang, founder of pet-care brand Heads Up For Tails, hope for a future where pets can travel safely and comfortably with their families.

In conclusion, while Uber’s ‘Uber Pet’ service may have been introduced to meet demand, its pricing, limited availability, and lack of driver support leave much to be desired for pet owners across the country.

New Delhi [India], December 24: As 2024 comes to a close, the beauty industry is shifting towards a deeper focus on sustainability, ethical values, and conscious consumerism. These principles are set to shape the beauty trends of 2025, with consumers seeking products that resonate with their personal values while catering to their skin’s specific needs. From innovative natural ingredients to environmentally friendly packaging, the future of skincare combines efficacy with a positive environmental and social impact.

One prominent trend gaining momentum is the rise of vegan skincare. Modern consumers are increasingly opting for plant-based alternatives that deliver effective results without compromising ethical standards. Ingredients like Edelweiss flower, Bakuchiol, and natural Hyaluronic Acid have emerged as key components, offering solutions for a wide array of skin concerns while adhering to sustainable principles.

Sustainability continues to be a cornerstone of beauty innovation, influencing every aspect of product development. Ethical sourcing ensures that skincare ingredients are environmentally friendly and beneficial to the skin. Edelweiss, for example, is cultivated responsibly to preserve its ecosystem while offering exceptional skin benefits. Similarly, makeup trends for 2024 reflect a growing preference for earthy tones and vibrant hues in vegan, cruelty-free formulations that meet ethical standards without sacrificing quality or creativity.

Eco-conscious packaging has also taken center stage, with recyclable materials becoming the norm. As consumers prioritize brands committed to sustainability, the push toward a circular economy is reshaping the beauty industry.

Among the leading names in this movement is The Body Shop, a pioneer in ethical beauty since its inception. The brand’s unwavering focus on sustainability, ethical sourcing, and eco-friendly packaging aligns with the evolving values of modern consumers. Harnessing the power of nature, The Body Shop continues to deliver innovative, safe, and effective skincare solutions that benefit both individuals and the planet.

The brand’s renowned Edelweiss skincare range exemplifies this commitment. Sourced from the Swiss Alps, Edelweiss flowers are known for their natural antioxidant, leontopodic acid, which protects and repairs the skin. In fact, Edelweiss extract is said to have 43% more antioxidant power than retinol. Similarly, The Body Shop’s Vitamin C skincare range features ethically sourced Vitamin C from Camu Camu berries, coupled with Bakuchiol, a plant-based alternative to retinol that addresses pigmentation while providing long-lasting hydration.

The brand’s latest offering, The India Edit, celebrates India’s rich heritage with products that are over 90% natural and paraben-free. This collection, inspired by Indian ingredients like Lotus, Hibiscus, Pomegranate, and Black Grape, highlights thoughtful formulations that merge vibrancy with responsibility.

As the industry looks toward 2025, the emphasis on safety, efficacy, and sustainability is expected to grow. By integrating vegan formulations and community fair trade practices, The Body Shop continues to lead the way in a movement that empowers local communities and addresses global beauty demands. With a seamless blend of innovation, integrity, and environmental care, the brand is setting new benchmarks for a conscious beauty industry.

About The Body Shop

Founded in 1976 in Brighton, England, by Dame Anita Roddick, The Body Shop is a global beauty brand committed to making a positive impact through ethical, naturally inspired skincare, body care, hair care, and makeup.

In India, The Body Shop operates through its partner, Quest Retail, a pioneer in beauty retail since 2006.

As winter settles in, many people experience dry, flaky skin and irritation due to the cold temperatures and lower humidity levels. In India, the winter months bring not only a drop in temperatures but also significant changes in air quality, which can affect our skin’s health. In fact, studies show that humidity levels in most parts of India during winter can drop as low as 30-40%, making the skin more prone to dryness and sensitivity. To ensure your skin stays healthy, glowing, and nourished throughout the season, it’s important to adjust your skincare routine. Here’s a detailed guide with research-based tips for winter skincare:

1. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

During winter, dry air leads to moisture loss from the skin. Research by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) suggests that drinking 8-10 glasses of water per day is essential to maintain overall hydration. Studies also show that incorporating hydrating foods like cucumbers, oranges, and soups helps improve skin hydration, especially in drier months. A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2014) confirmed that hyaluronic acid, a natural compound found in the skin, can retain moisture, which improves hydration levels and keeps skin looking plump. The study showed that using products containing hyaluronic acid led to a significant improvement in skin moisture after just two weeks of use.

2. Switch to a Cream-Based Cleanser

During winter, foaming cleansers can strip away the skin’s natural oils, leaving it dry and irritated. A 2017 study in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology found that cream-based cleansers with ingredients like glycerin and ceramides are more effective in preserving the skin’s moisture. Glycerin, a humectant, helps attract moisture to the skin, while ceramides strengthen the skin’s barrier, preventing moisture loss.

3. Use a Humidifier

The dry indoor air in winter, caused by the use of heating systems, can worsen skin dryness. Research from the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) shows that using a humidifier can help maintain moisture levels in the skin. Studies have indicated that maintaining indoor humidity levels between 30-50% can significantly improve skin hydration. This is particularly important in cities like Delhi, Jaipur, and Pune, where winter humidity levels can drop below 40%, making it beneficial to use a humidifier indoors to reduce skin dryness.

4. Apply Moisturizer While Skin is Damp

When applying moisturizer to your skin, doing so on slightly damp skin helps lock in moisture. A study published in the Journal of Dermatology (2015) found that moisturizers containing ceramides and glycerin significantly helped restore the skin’s moisture barrier after showers. Applying these moisturizers within three minutes of bathing can trap moisture effectively and prevent the skin from drying out.

5. Exfoliate Gently

Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, but over-exfoliating can harm the skin’s natural barrier. According to research from Dermatologic Therapy (2018), exfoliating once a week with gentle exfoliants, such as those containing AHAs (alpha-hydroxy acids) or BHAs (beta-hydroxy acids), helps promote skin renewal while maintaining hydration levels. Over-exfoliating can lead to further dryness, especially during winter when the skin is already compromised by harsh weather.

6. Use Sunscreen Every Day

Even in winter, UV rays can cause skin damage. A study published in the Indian Journal of Dermatology (2013) found that UVA and UVB rays remain potent during the winter months, causing photoaging and increasing the risk of skin cancer. The study emphasized the need for daily broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. This is true even on overcast days or when the temperature is low, as up to 80% of UV rays can still penetrate through clouds. Sunscreens containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are particularly effective in blocking both UVA and UVB rays.

7. Treat Dry Hands and Feet

Hands and feet are especially vulnerable to the cold and often become cracked and irritated during winter. Research from the National Institute of Dermatology suggests that glycerin-based creams are particularly effective in combating dryness in these areas. A 2017 study in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment showed that glycerin helps attract water to the skin and keeps it hydrated. Experts recommend using a thick moisturizing hand cream and foot cream with ingredients like shea butter or lanolin to treat dry skin effectively.

8. Avoid Hot Showers and Baths

Although hot showers can feel comforting in winter, research published in Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology (2018) found that hot water can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to more dryness and irritation. The study advised using lukewarm water for bathing and showering and keeping the duration under 10 minutes to minimize skin damage. Additionally, gentle, hydrating cleansers should be used to avoid exacerbating skin dryness.

9. Incorporate Natural Oils into Your Routine

Natural oils like coconut oil, almond oil, and olive oil are rich in fatty acids and antioxidants, which can help nourish dry skin. Research published in the Indian Journal of Dermatology (2016) confirmed that coconut oil has significant anti-inflammatory properties and is effective in treating dry, flaky skin. Similarly, almond oil, rich in vitamin E, has been shown to prevent skin dryness and promote a smoother texture. The study recommended using natural oils to enhance skin hydration during winter.

10. Winter-Proof Your Lips

Dry, chapped lips are a common winter problem. According to a study in the Journal of Lipid Research (2017), beeswax and shea butter are highly effective in preventing lip dryness by providing a protective barrier and sealing in moisture. The study noted that lip balms containing these ingredients significantly reduced lip dryness and improved overall skin texture. It’s important to apply lip balm frequently during the day, especially before going outside.

11. Avoid Wearing Tight, Rough Fabrics

Tight-fitting clothes and rough fabrics like wool can irritate the skin, especially in the winter. A study published in the British Journal of Dermatology (2015) showed that wearing tight or scratchy fabrics exacerbates itching and irritation in sensitive skin during the colder months. Opt for soft, breathable fabrics like cotton or silk to reduce skin friction and prevent discomfort.

12. Monitor Indoor Air Quality

Heating systems in winter can lower indoor humidity levels, contributing to skin dehydration. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the U.S. reported that the relative humidity indoors can drop by as much as 50% during winter months when heating is used. This can lead to increased dryness, irritation, and even respiratory issues. Using a humidifier to maintain an indoor humidity level of 30-50% can help prevent dryness and maintain optimal skin hydration.

Final Thoughts

Maintaining healthy skin during the winter months requires adjusting your routine to accommodate the season’s unique challenges. By following these research-backed skincare tips, you can ensure your skin stays hydrated, protected, and glowing all season long. Remember, skincare is not just about the products you use—it’s also about a balanced lifestyle. Drinking enough water, eating a nutritious diet, and using the right skincare products will help your skin stay healthy despite the cold and dry weather.
