Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], December 17: In a significant development for both Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC) project’s ‘Nadi Jodo Abhiyan’ would be signed today. The project, which falls under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is set to benefit a total of 24 districts—11 in Madhya Pradesh and 13 in Rajasthan—by providing access to drinking water and water for irrigation.

Speaking to the media, CM Yadav described the signing of the MoU as a historic moment for both states. He emphasized that the project, which will be backed by a government investment of Rs 17,000 crores, will have a transformative impact on the lives of the residents in the affected regions. The project aims to provide critical water resources for drinking and irrigation purposes, alleviating water scarcity issues that have plagued several districts.

“Today will be a historic day for MP and Rajasthan. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an MoU of the Parvati-Chambal-Kalisindh (PKC) project’s ‘Nadi Jodo Abhiyan’ is going to be signed. This project will benefit 11 districts in Madhya Pradesh and 13 districts in Rajasthan by ensuring a steady supply of drinking water and irrigation water,” said CM Yadav.

The project is seen as a major step towards improving water management and ensuring sustainable water supply for agricultural and domestic use. CM Yadav highlighted that the agreement between the two states had been delayed for 20 years during the tenure of the Congress government, leading to years of missed opportunities. He regretted the lost time but expressed optimism about the future.

“Water is a gift from God, but when managed properly by the government, it benefits society at large. The agreement between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh was delayed for two decades by the Congress government, but now we have made the crucial decision to move forward. The time for change has arrived,” CM Yadav remarked.

The districts to benefit from the ‘Nadi Jodo Abhiyan’ include Sheopur, Morena, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashok Nagar, as well as regions in western Madhya Pradesh such as Agar, Indore, Ujjain, Shajapur, and Rajgarh. These areas will now have a reliable source of drinking water and improved irrigation systems, which are expected to boost agricultural productivity and improve the quality of life for the local population.

On the occasion, CM Yadav extended his greetings to everyone involved in the project and celebrated the long-awaited milestone that promises to bring lasting benefits to the region.
