Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 2: After the immense success of Stree 2, the creators have officially revealed the release date for the third installment of the beloved horror-comedy franchise. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles, Stree 3 will be directed by Amar Kaushik and is scheduled to hit theaters on August 13, 2027.

The announcement came from Maddock Films, which has also unveiled an exciting lineup for the Maddock Supernatural Universe (MSU). Along with Stree 3, films such as Shakti Shalini, Bhediya 2, and Chamunda will be a part of the growing cinematic universe.

Fans have eagerly awaited the third chapter of Stree, which has made a significant impact on the Bollywood horror-comedy genre. Director Dinesh Vijan, the mastermind behind the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, expressed his excitement about expanding this universe. He said, “At Maddock, we aim to innovate and entertain. Our films, with their deep connection to India’s culture and heritage, resonate with audiences. Our stories are not only relatable but also meaningful, and with a loyal fanbase, we’re ready to create an even bigger cinematic universe that will bring unforgettable characters and tales to life.”

Maddock Films took to Instagram to share the announcement, revealing an eight-film slate under the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. Stree 2 saw immense box-office success despite a simultaneous release alongside Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa. Stree 2 managed to outperform both films by a significant margin, solidifying its place as the go-to choice for moviegoers. The film starred Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana, with Varun Dhawan making a special cameo appearance.

In an earlier conversation with ANI, director Amar Kaushik spoke about the journey of Stree 3 and its potential cast. He shared that it took six years to make Stree 2, but the third installment will be ready in about three years. He also discussed the possibility of Akshay Kumar appearing in Stree 3. While Kumar made a cameo in Stree 2, Kaushik clarified that his involvement in the third film would depend on the script, stating, “If the story demands, he will be a part of it, otherwise, he won’t.”

The success of Stree 2 has been overwhelming, and Kaushik credited the film’s stellar cast, producers, and technicians for its success. He expressed his gratitude to the audience, saying, “I am thankful for the viewers who supported the film, and I am glad to receive so many positive messages.”

The first Stree film was released in 2018 and was a box-office hit, featuring the same lead actors, Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, along with Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee.

Alongside Stree 3, Maddock Films has announced other major releases as part of the horror-comedy genre.
