Los Angeles [US], December 27: Fans eagerly awaiting the sequel to The Batman will have to wait a bit longer. Originally slated for an October 2, 2026 release, the highly anticipated film has been pushed back to October 1, 2027, as reported by Deadline.

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman Part II has a production schedule set to begin in late summer 2024. Given the sequel’s significant reliance on visual effects, a fall 2026 release was deemed ambitious, prompting the new timeline.

Meanwhile, the fall 2026 movie season will feature powerhouse releases, including projects helmed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and Tom Cruise.

The sequel to The Batman will see Robert Pattinson returning as the titular Dark Knight. The film first came to public attention during CinemaCon in April 2022, and later in August of that year, Mattson Tomlin joined Reeves to co-write the script. In January 2023, DC Studios executives James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed the film’s title as The Batman Part II.

In addition to Reeves’ project, another major production by Legendary Entertainment is set to make waves in the coming years. Starring Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, and Riz Ahmed, the film explores the gripping journey of the world’s most powerful man on a mission to prove himself.

With the excitement building for both Reeves’ sequel and other fall 2026 releases, fans of the Dark Knight will have plenty to look forward to when The Batman Part II finally hits theaters in 2027.
