The AAP chief also posted a video on social media, alleging that BJP goons were attacking AAP workers to stop their campaigning. He emphasized that the people of Delhi would reject violence and choose AAP in the upcoming elections.

The New Delhi constituency, where Kejriwal is contesting against BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit, is a high-stakes battleground. Kejriwal has won the seat in previous elections by significant margins, but the competition is expected to be intense.

Geong had been residing in the Philippines for years, continuing his criminal activities while evading capture. Indian authorities had been seeking his arrest for his involvement in serious crimes, which led to his detention in Bacolod City by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in July 2024.

Hailing from Kaithal district in Haryana, Geong had committed crimes alongside his brother, Surinder Geong. A case was registered against him by Haryana Police on December 30, 2017, at the Panipat police station. He faces charges of criminal conspiracy and murder for allegedly orchestrating the killing of a man suspected of informing the police about his brother’s whereabouts. Surinder Geong was involved in an encounter with Karnal police in 2017.

The BI had identified Geong as an “Indian-Nepalese national” and a prominent leader of a separatist terror group. Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco confirmed that Geong had been arrested at his residence in Bacolod City by the BI’s fugitive search unit last year. Geong had been using multiple aliases, including Joginder Geyong and Kanta Gupta.

Following India’s request, Philippine authorities took action, arresting him for his involvement in a major organized crime syndicate. In addition to his criminal activities, Geong had been sentenced to life imprisonment for firearms possession in India. He was also suspected of having connections with the Khalistani separatist movement.

Geong faces numerous charges in Haryana, Delhi, and Punjab, and his deportation marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to bring him to justice.
