The day’s activities began in Zurich, where Minister Vaishnaw participated in discussions with Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). During this session, the latest advancements in infrastructure diagnostics were presented, showcasing the Swiss expertise that could potentially aid in improving India’s railway operations. Vaishnaw met with Swiss railway experts, exploring technologies to enhance safety, operational efficiency, and infrastructure within the Indian Railway system.

The Minister’s visit also included meetings with leading small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the railway sector, such as Rhomberg Sersa Ag, Selectron, Ucentrics, Autech, and nu Glass. These discussions focused on fostering partnerships and exploring technology transfer opportunities, particularly in the development of smart railway solutions and sustainable manufacturing practices that align with India’s modernization goals.

The Minister visited the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in St. Margrethen, where Stadler Rail’s expertise in producing advanced double-decker multiple-unit trains was presented. Qatar and India Strengthen Ties

Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Ahmed Mohammed Al Sayed, highlighted Qatar’s economic diversification strategy, emphasizing sectors such as logistics, IT, and digital transformation. He noted India’s significance as Qatar’s second-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade exceeding USD 14 billion in 2023.

“The partnership between Qatar and India represents long-term strategic allies committed to advancing and strengthening together,” Al Sayed stated, referencing Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Qatar earlier this year as a pivotal moment in deepening ties.

Myanmar Eyes Stronger Collaboration with India

Myanmar’s Deputy Minister of Commerce, Minn Minn, underlined the complementary strengths of India and Myanmar, citing Myanmar’s agricultural assets and India’s technological expertise.

“As neighbouring countries and key trading partners, we stand as a testament to the power of strategic partnerships in advancing regional stability and mutual growth,” he said.

Minn Minn also acknowledged India’s technical assistance and capacity-building initiatives, which have significantly boosted Myanmar’s trade development.

The summit’s discussions reinforced the importance of regional cooperation, trade, and investment, setting a vision for mutual growth and shared prosperity across Asia and beyond.
