Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set for a high-profile visit to France this February, where he will play a key role in shaping global discussions on Artificial Intelligence (AI). On February 11th, PM Modi will co-chair the AI Action Summit in Paris, alongside French President Emmanuel Macron. This summit will bring together some of the world’s most influential leaders, including US Vice President JD Vance and China’s Vice Prime Minister Ding Xuexiang.

The AI Action Summit is a significant event that takes place as part of the Paris Peace Forum. The primary aim of the summit is to promote ethical AI practices that are inclusive, sustainable, and beneficial to all. India’s active participation in this summit is seen as a clear indication of the country’s growing influence in the global tech space, especially in shaping the future of AI. PM Modi’s presence will allow India to contribute to international policy-making efforts on the development and deployment of AI technologies.

In addition to the summit, PM Modi’s visit will focus on expanding economic and diplomatic ties between India and France. During his trip, he will hold meetings with leading CEOs of French companies to discuss potential collaborations in various sectors. PM Modi’s visit also holds historical significance as he will engage in a bilateral discussion with President Macron in Marseille on February 12th, strengthening the relationship between the two countries further.

India and France have already made strides in several areas, including aerospace, nuclear energy, and defense. Ongoing talks on civil nuclear energy could lead to substantial announcements during PM Modi’s visit. France has also been a valuable partner in India’s mission to boost its technological and industrial capabilities.

A major milestone during this visit is the opening of a new Indian consulate in Marseille. This consulate will serve as a critical diplomatic presence in southern France, helping to improve trade, cultural exchange, and people-to-people relationships. This step is part of a broader effort to solidify India’s diplomatic ties across Europe.

Earlier in January, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that French President Macron had officially invited PM Modi to co-chair the AI Action Summit. This invitation comes at a time when India is actively developing its own AI agenda, positioning the country as a key player in the global tech landscape.

The AI Action Summit itself is set to be a landmark event, with discussions expected to focus on the ethical development and use of AI technologies, and how they can be applied to tackle global challenges. The summit will be attended by heads of state, business leaders, academics, and experts from civil society. The event, scheduled to take place on February 10-11 at the Grand Palais in Paris, is an exciting opportunity for India to further its leadership role in the AI space.

India is making significant strides in its clean energy transition, with a recent boost from Amazon’s investments in three new wind energy projects. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the country’s leadership in the global clean energy movement, emphasizing the role of investments from global companies like Amazon.

Amazon’s latest initiative includes investments in wind energy projects across Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, adding over 379 MW of clean energy to India’s grid. This aligns with India’s ambitious goal to generate 50% of its electricity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030.

Minister Vaishnaw stated, “Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi ji, India is rapidly emerging as a global leader in the clean energy transition.” He also noted that renewable energy is key to powering the next wave of digital and transportation infrastructure, as well as advancing the nation’s sustainability efforts.

The projects include CleanMax Koppal (100 MW) in Karnataka, BluPine Solapur (99 MW) in Maharashtra, and JSW Energy Dharapuram (180 MW) in Tamil Nadu. These investments will significantly contribute to the nation’s renewable energy targets while supporting local economic growth.

Shripad Yesso Naik, the Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy, welcomed Amazon’s continued efforts in renewable energy, stressing that such investments are crucial for ensuring energy security and reducing environmental impact. Naik also urged other global corporations to follow Amazon’s lead in supporting India’s green energy future.

Amazon’s global renewable energy commitment continues to make an impact, with the company having invested in more than 600 solar and wind projects worldwide, including over 50 in India. The firm has now enabled a total of 53 solar and wind initiatives in India, contributing over 4 million MWh of carbon-free energy—enough to power 1.3 million Indian homes.

Amazon reached its goal of 100% renewable energy operations seven years ahead of schedule in 2023. The company’s renewable energy projects not only help offset its operational energy consumption but also provide sustainable energy to local communities, creating jobs and supporting economic growth in the regions where they are implemented.

New Delhi, February 6, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s annual interaction program Pariksha Pe Charcha (PPC) is returning with a fresh format in 2025. This year, the event will feature a star-studded lineup of personalities, including Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, Olympic boxer Mary Kom, and Paralympic shooter Avani Lekhara, alongside other experts like nutritionist Rujuta Divekar, motivational speaker Sonali Sabharwal, and YouTuber Technical Guruji. The initiative aims to empower students, particularly those gearing up for their board examinations, with guidance on managing stress and preparing holistically.

The PPC, organized by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, will take place at the Bharat Mandapam in the national capital in a town hall format. The event has gained immense popularity since its inception in 2018, evolving into a nationwide movement. In its eighth edition in 2025, PPC saw a record-breaking 3.56 crore registrations, reflecting the program’s vast reach and growing significance among students, teachers, and parents across the country.

The core focus of Pariksha Pe Charcha is to transform exam-related anxiety into a festival of learning, dubbed “Utsav,” where students are encouraged to view exams as an opportunity for growth rather than a source of stress. This year’s edition will also include special activities conducted at the school level, from January 12 to January 25, to keep students engaged and help them manage exam-related pressures effectively.

A total of 1.42 crore students, 12.81 lakh teachers, and 2.94 lakh schools took part in these activities, which included indigenous games, creative competitions, and wellness activities like yoga and meditation. These initiatives are designed to improve focus, reduce stress, and promote well-being, ensuring students approach their exams with a calm and clear mindset.

Since its inception, Pariksha Pe Charcha has not only become a popular program but a movement that resonates deeply with the nation’s educational community. From its early days in New Delhi to its online adaptations during the COVID-19 pandemic, and back to a live format, PPC has continually adapted to serve the needs of students nationwide.

PM Modi’s direct dialogue with students, teachers, and parents is central to the program’s success, helping to demystify the exam process and provide practical strategies for stress management. Through this engaging format, PPC encourages the spirit of positivity and well-being during one of the most challenging times in a student’s life — the board exams.

New Delhi [India], February 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged voters in Delhi to actively engage in the ongoing Delhi Assembly elections, emphasizing the importance of every single vote in shaping the city’s future. He particularly encouraged first-time voters to cast their votes with enthusiasm and celebrate the democratic occasion afterward with some well-earned refreshments.

Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi shared a message urging all voters to participate fully in this “festival of democracy.” He wrote, “In today’s Delhi Assembly elections, votes will be cast for all seats. I urge the voters here to participate in this festival of democracy with full enthusiasm and make sure to cast their valuable vote.”

Modi further extended special wishes to young voters, particularly first-time voters, advising them humorously, “First vote, then refreshments!” The message underscored the significance of each vote, especially for the younger generation stepping into the electoral process for the first time.

With polling underway from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm today, Delhi has 1,56,14,000 registered voters. The electorate includes 83,76,173 males, 72,36,560 females, 1,267 third-gender voters, and 2,39,905 first-time voters. Additionally, 1,09,368 elderly voters aged 85 and above and 79,885 persons with disabilities are also part of the voter list.

The security measures for the election are extensive, with around 97,955 personnel and 8,715 volunteers deployed. This includes 220 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), 19,000 Home Guards, and 35,626 Delhi Police personnel. These arrangements ensure that the polling process proceeds peacefully and securely.

To ensure inclusivity, 70 polling stations are being run exclusively by women staff, another 70 by persons with disabilities, and 70 more to encourage youth participation. Additionally, voters can track crowd levels in real-time through the “Delhi Election – 2025 QMS” app available on Google Play Store. On-site medical teams and creche facilities for parents with young children are also in place.

Polling stations are color-coded for easy identification, and voters can contact the helpline number (1950) for assistance with finding their designated booths and resolving any election-related queries.

Prime Minister Modi’s appeal was echoed by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who also took to social media, urging voters to “First vote, then refreshments!” He emphasized the importance of casting votes wisely, calling it a critical act in shaping Delhi’s future and strengthening democracy.

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) seeks a third consecutive term, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), under Modi’s leadership, is aiming to regain control of the Delhi Assembly. The BJP has targeted AAP over issues like Yamuna water and corruption, while Congress, through Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, has accused AAP of mismanaging Delhi’s infrastructure.

On the eve of voting, Chief Electoral Officer R Alice Vaz also appealed to voters, highlighting voting as both a right and a civic duty. “On the day of voting, February 5th, I urge all voters in Delhi to come out in large numbers and cast their votes. It is our foremost responsibility as citizens to participate in this democratic process,” she said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed strong support for the Union Budget 2025, calling it a “force multiplier” that will lead to a rapid increase in savings, investment, consumption, and growth. He congratulated Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting a “Janta Janardan’s, People’s budget” that prioritizes the welfare of citizens.

PM Modi emphasized that the budget shifts the focus from government revenue generation to boosting individual savings and encouraging public participation in economic development. He noted, “Usually, the focus of the budget is on how the government treasury will be filled, but this budget is exactly the opposite of that.” He highlighted the aim of the budget to empower citizens to contribute to the nation’s economic growth.

The Prime Minister also praised the reforms in the budget, particularly the encouragement of private sector involvement in nuclear energy. “Encouraging the private sector in nuclear energy is historic,” he remarked, recognizing the significance of nuclear energy in advancing the country’s development.

Furthermore, PM Modi acknowledged the employment-centric policies introduced in the budget, pointing out that it prioritizes job creation across various sectors. He highlighted the infrastructure status for shipbuilding, which is expected to promote large-scale construction and support the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Tourism, a sector with immense potential, also received attention. PM Modi announced plans for building hotels at 50 major tourist destinations, reinforcing the idea that tourism and hospitality will be crucial in generating employment. He concluded that by categorizing hotels under infrastructure, the budget would enhance the sector and create more job opportunities for the workforce.

Overall, the Union Budget 2025 represents a decisive step toward inclusive growth, with a particular focus on empowering individuals, boosting employment, and facilitating sustainable development across sectors.

On the occasion of Balasaheb Thackeray’s birth anniversary, several prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, paid their respects to the Shiv Sena founder, remembering his unwavering commitment to public welfare, nationalism, and the pride of Indian culture.

Prime Minister Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to honor Thackeray’s contributions to Maharashtra’s development, recalling his steadfast dedication to public welfare and cultural pride. “I pay homage to Balasaheb Thackeray Ji on his birth anniversary. He is widely respected and remembered for his commitment to public welfare and Maharashtra’s development. He was uncompromising when it came to his core beliefs and always contributed towards enhancing the pride of Indian culture,” PM Modi wrote in his tribute.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also praised Thackeray’s dedication to nationalism and Sanatan culture. Shah’s tribute highlighted Thackeray’s relentless pursuit of the nation’s welfare, even in challenging times. “The revered Balasaheb Thackeray, who was lifelong dedicated to the ideals of Sanatan culture and nationalism, always placed the nation’s welfare above all else. Even in adverse circumstances, Balasaheb never compromised on his principles, and his ideological firmness will continue to inspire us forever,” Shah shared on X, extending his respects to the late leader.

New Delhi, January 17, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently highlighted the remarkable growth of India’s automotive sector, underscoring that the country is now selling over 2.5 crore cars annually, surpassing the population of many nations globally. This milestone reflects the vibrant expansion of the automotive industry, which continues to fuel India’s economic transformation.

Speaking at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, Prime Minister Modi attributed this impressive growth to several key factors, including India’s young and dynamic population, rising income levels, a rapidly expanding middle class, and government initiatives like the “Make in India” and Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes.

Key Drivers of Growth

India’s automotive boom is largely driven by its burgeoning middle class, increasing urbanization, and the government’s investment in infrastructure development. The Prime Minister emphasized that the country’s young population, coupled with growing economic prosperity, has played a significant role in boosting demand for vehicles. With over 25 crore people moving out of poverty in the last decade, a new middle class has emerged with greater purchasing power and ambition, further stimulating demand for cars.

“In the last ten years, over 25 crore people came out of poverty, and this new middle class will buy vehicles,” said Prime Minister Modi. He also pointed out that the improved road infrastructure, multi-modal connectivity, and the advent of smart mobility solutions, such as Fastag, are all contributing to the rapid growth of the automotive industry.

The Role of Government Initiatives

The Indian government’s focus on infrastructure development is crucial to the future success of the automotive sector. In the recent Union Budget, more than Rs 11 lakh crore were allocated for the expansion of highways, multi-lane roads, and better connectivity across the country. These initiatives are expected to not only ease travel but also significantly reduce transportation costs, further stimulating vehicle sales.

Additionally, the “Make in India” initiative has been pivotal in making affordable vehicles accessible to the domestic market. This initiative has encouraged automobile manufacturers to ramp up production in India, reducing costs and making cars more affordable for the growing middle class.

India as a Global Manufacturing Hub

PM Modi also highlighted India’s increasing role as a global manufacturing hub for automobiles. The country is not only catering to its domestic demand but is also expanding its presence in international markets. Under the “Make in India, Make for the World” mantra, India’s automotive exports have been on the rise, showcasing the country’s potential as a global leader in car production.

India’s automotive industry is now poised for a major leap forward, as more companies set up manufacturing plants in the country, taking advantage of the PLI scheme and other supportive policies. These efforts are expected to make India a key player in the global automotive market.

Smart Mobility and Sustainable Growth

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister believes that the future of India’s automotive sector will be shaped by cutting-edge technologies and a focus on sustainable mobility solutions. With the growing emphasis on electric vehicles (EVs) and smart mobility, the sector is on track to embrace innovations that will further transform the way people travel.

“The journey of developed India is going to be a journey of unprecedented transformation and many-fold expansion of the mobility sector,” said Modi. He emphasized that as India moves toward smart mobility, the adoption of technologies like EVs, autonomous vehicles, and integrated transportation solutions will help make travel more efficient and environmentally friendly.

Conclusion

India’s automotive sector is experiencing unprecedented growth, driven by a combination of demographic factors, rising incomes, government policies, and a focus on infrastructure development. With the support of both the public and private sectors, India is on the path to becoming a global hub for automobile manufacturing and a leader in smart mobility solutions. The coming years are expected to witness a remarkable transformation in India’s automotive landscape, contributing significantly to the country’s vision of becoming a developed nation.

New Delhi, January 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized that the newly introduced Draft Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, exemplify India’s unwavering commitment to citizen-centric governance. Reacting to a post by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Modi stated, “Union Minister, @AshwiniVaishnaw explains how the Draft Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, prioritises India’s commitment to citizen-centric governance. The rules aim to safeguard personal data while driving growth and inclusivity.”

On January 5, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) elaborated on the draft Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Rules, which are designed to protect citizens’ rights in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. The Ministry further announced that the public would have the opportunity to submit feedback on the draft rules until February 18, 2025, through the MyGov portal.

The DPDP Act and the accompanying draft rules are crafted to keep pace with the rapid evolution of digital technologies. One key feature is the establishment of a Data Protection Board, envisioned as a fully digital entity, which will allow citizens to lodge complaints and resolve disputes online, eliminating the need for physical presence. Additionally, the rules aim to raise awareness among citizens about their rights and empower them to manage their personal data through multilingual digital platforms.

Apart from gathering online feedback, the Ministry also plans structured consultations with stakeholders from civil society, industry, and government to refine the draft rules. Once finalized, the rules will be submitted to Parliament for approval.

The draft rules are designed to balance individual rights protection with the continued growth of digital practices. Organizations will have sufficient time to comply with the new regulations, minimizing compliance burdens. Data processing based on prior consent will remain allowed, with proper notices issued to individuals to ensure their rights are respected.

In terms of safeguarding children’s personal data, Data Fiduciaries will be required to implement measures to obtain verifiable parental consent. Startups will also benefit from reduced compliance requirements, while significant Data Fiduciaries will face stricter obligations. Furthermore, the DPDP Act introduces graded financial penalties, which will be determined based on the severity and duration of violations. Businesses may submit voluntary undertakings to the Data Protection Board to avoid penalties during proceedings, ensuring that enforcement remains fair and proportional.

Notably, the draft rules do not impose a blanket requirement for storing personal data within India. However, restrictions on cross-border data transfers may apply to certain categories of personal data as recommended by a designated committee.

By integrating digital-first mechanisms and maintaining a balanced regulatory framework, the draft DPDP Rules aim to protect citizens’ rights while fostering a thriving digital economy in India.
