The Jamnagar refinery, launched on December 28, 1999, symbolizes Reliance’s indomitable spirit. Built in just 33 months, the refinery overcame monumental challenges, including the absence of basic infrastructure and the devastation of a severe cyclone. At the time, many experts doubted that an Indian company could establish the world’s largest refinery in such a remote, desert-like region.

However, Dhirubhai Ambani, the visionary founder of Reliance, defied the skeptics and embarked on creating not just an industrial complex but a “Nandanwan” – a paradise in the wilderness. With relentless determination, Dhirubhai and his team transformed Jamnagar into a global refining hub between 1996 and 1999.
