Washington D.C. [US], January 20 — The stage is set for a grand and historic inauguration as Donald Trump prepares to take the oath of office as the 45th President of the United States. The much-anticipated events surrounding the ceremony will include a mix of solemn traditions, formal rituals, and celebratory moments throughout the day.

The day will begin with Trump’s departure to St. John’s Church, where he will attend a service to mark the beginning of his presidency. Following the church service, he will head to Blair House, the President’s Guest House, to prepare for the upcoming formalities.

At the North Portico, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will welcome Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, before greeting President-Elect Trump. The inauguration ceremony will begin with Vice President-Elect JD Vance taking his oath of office, followed by Trump’s own swearing-in as the nation’s 45th president.

After the grand swearing-in ceremony, President Trump will deliver his inaugural address to the nation. Following this, a formal farewell ceremony for the outgoing President Biden and Vice President Harris will take place, marking the conclusion of their administration.

The next event on the agenda is the signing ceremony, which is one of the first official actions taken by a newly sworn-in president. Held in the President’s Room just off the Senate Chamber in the U.S. Capitol, the signing ceremony will see President Trump sign several key nominations, executive orders, and proclamations. This tradition, which began with President Ronald Reagan in 1981, has since become an important moment in every inauguration.

Following the signing ceremony, a luncheon will take place before Trump participates in the traditional review of the troops. The President and First Lady Melania Trump will then head to Capitol Hill for the inauguration parade, which will make its way through Washington, D.C.

Later in the day, Trump will return to the White House to sign more official documents in the Oval Office. He will then make his way to the Convention Center for informal remarks before attending several inaugural balls. These will include the Liberty Ball, the Commander-in-Chief Ball, and the United Station Ball.

As the day draws to a close, President Trump and First Lady Melania will return to the White House to mark the end of a day filled with ceremony, tradition, and celebration, ushering in a new chapter in American history.
