Through a post on X (formerly Twitter), Pettit shared images of the sprawling festival illuminated in the night sky, highlighting the massive scale of the event.
In his tweet, Pettit noted: “2025 Maha Kumbh Mela Ganges River pilgrimage from the ISS at night. The largest human gathering in the world is well lit.” The images showcase millions of pilgrims gathered along the banks of the sacred Ganges River in Prayagraj, creating a stunning spectacle visible from space.
