Wedding at Rashtrapati Bhavan: President Murmu Approves Ceremony
In a historic first, the Rashtrapati Bhavan will host a wedding ceremony on February 12, 2025. President Droupadi Murmu has given her approval for this special occasion, impressed by the individual’s service and conduct.
The wedding will take place at the Mother Teresa Crown Complex within Rashtrapati Bhavan, with a select guest list of close family and friends, all undergoing necessary security checks before entry. Though no official confirmation has been released by the Rashtrapati Bhavan yet, reports suggest that the ceremony is all set to take place.
Who is getting married at Rashtrapati Bhavan?
Poonam Gupta, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Assistant Commandant, is the first individual to have her wedding hosted at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She is currently posted as a Personal Security Officer (PSO) at the President’s residence. Poonam Gupta will marry Avneesh Kumar, an Assistant Commandant stationed in Jammu and Kashmir.

Poonam Gupta is well known for leading the CRPF’s all-women contingent during the 74th Republic Day Parade. A woman of many accomplishments, Gupta holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, a master’s degree in English Literature, and a BEd from Jiwaji University in Gwalior. She ranked 81st in the UPSC CAPF exam in 2018 and has previously served in the Naxal-affected areas of Bihar.
