Marvel Unveils Teaser for ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ – A Glimpse into Their Retro-Futuristic World
Washington DC [US], February 5: Fans have been eagerly anticipating the next chapter of the Fantastic Four, and Marvel Studios has officially dropped the first teaser for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This exciting preview was unveiled on Tuesday, offering a first look at the upcoming film, which is slated for release in theaters this July.
The teaser transports viewers into the retrofuturistic world of the Fantastic Four, where Reed Richards (played by a yet-to-be-revealed actor) and Sue Storm (also unconfirmed) walk a guest through their headquarters at the iconic Baxter Building. Meanwhile, the team’s beloved robot H.E.R.B.I.E. and The Thing (Ben Grimm) prepare a meal, setting a warm and familial tone for the film.
One of the most emotional moments in the teaser sees Reed and Sue reflect on their shared past and uncertain future. Reed poignantly tells Sue, “Before we went up the first time, you couldn’t turn invisible, Ben wasn’t a rock, and Johnny never caught fire.” Sue’s response highlights their bond and determination: “Ben has always been a rock. Johnny is… Johnny. And I am right here. Whatever life throws at us, we’ll face it together, as a family.”
The teaser also showcases exciting action, including Johnny Storm soaring into space without a spacesuit and fiery clouds consuming the skies over Manhattan. A mysterious figure, played by John Malkovich, is teased, adding an element of suspense and intrigue to the film’s narrative.
Set in an alternate 1960s, The Fantastic Four: First Steps was filmed overseas from July to November 2024. The film boasts a talented cast, including Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal (a version of Silver Surfer), Paul Walter-Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles.
Directed by Matt Shakman (known for his work on WandaVision), the film’s script is penned by Ric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. Kevin Feige is producing for Marvel Studios, promising an adventure that will introduce a new chapter for the iconic superhero team.
