Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 5: The Red Lorry Film Festival is set to return for its highly anticipated second edition, expanding beyond Mumbai to also include Hyderabad. From March 21 to 23, the festival will showcase an exciting lineup of globally recognized films, including Emilia Perez, The Girl with the Needle, and Queer.

A key highlight of the festival is Emilia Perez, which made history by receiving 13 Oscar nominations— the most ever for a non-English-language film. The film features a stellar cast, including Zoe Saldana, Selena Gomez, Karla Sofia Gascon, and Adriana Paz. Gascon has the distinction of becoming the first transgender woman to receive an Oscar nomination for acting. The film’s impressive achievements include winning the Jury Prize and a joint Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival.

Another significant entry is The Girl with the Needle, a gripping period drama set in 1919 Copenhagen. It follows Karoline, a young seamstress, played by Vic Carmen Sonne, as she navigates a difficult and dangerous path after becoming pregnant by a wealthy lover who refuses to marry her. With critical acclaim following its world premiere at Cannes and subsequent screening at the Toronto Film Festival, the film has been lauded for its intense and emotionally charged narrative.

The Red Lorry Film Festival shared the exciting news on their official Instagram page, captioning the announcement: “For cinephiles who crave the unseen, the unheard, the unforgettable. MUBI brings its most compelling films to Red Lorry Film Festival. Emilia Perez – Justice wears many faces. Some sing, some fight, and some disappear. The Girl with the Needle – In the shadows of 1920s Copenhagen, one girl stitches a fate she never asked for. Queer – A restless pursuit of love, lost in bars and visions. Catch these movies only at the Red Lorry Film Festival.”

The festival promises to be a cultural event of the year, offering audiences in Mumbai and Hyderabad an exclusive opportunity to watch these films on the big screen. Don’t miss out on experiencing world-class cinema at Red Lorry Film Festival from March 21 to 23.
